Sabbadius Triple Trouble

Based in Córdoba, Argentina, Sabbadius is a custom pedal show that also offers some hand-wired stock stompboxes. The Triple Trouble, probably the most ambitious of the lot, is a rather complex beast developed in collaboration with guitarist Tommy Katona of Stevie Ray Vaughan tribute band Texas Flood.

A tribute to the great Bluesman, the Triple Trouble consists of 3 existing circuits, each featuring its separate footswitch:

  1. The 80 Overdrive Tone and a boost),
  2. The Mr. White Special II Boost
  3. The Texas Square Face Fuzz type pedal by Cesar Diaz, a great sounding, silicon fuzz pedal inspired to the vintage designs of the ’60s and ’70s.

An extra, unexpected ace in this pedal’s sleeve is the “Wach Trick,” a knob that

allows you to use a wah pedal in front of the fuzz, like Jimi Hendrix did. If you are not using a wah, you can use this knob to attenuate the fuzz and convert it into a really nice, glassy tone overdrive.

Meet Texas Flood guitarist Tommy Katona’s 2020 signature pedal, the Sabbadius Triple Trouble! Tommy’s band, Texas Flood, is arguably the best Stevie Ray Vaughan tribute band to date. Tommy was the first international endorser of Sabbadius Custom Shop, when Founder Nico Sabbadius thought that Tommy’s guitar playing was so precise, he was invited to be part of the Sabbadius family of endorsers.

The Triple Trouble pedal was named in tribute to SRV, and consists of 2 Sabbadius pedals, plus a 3rd fuzz pedal. Tommy wanted all 3 pedals in 1 enclosure… the Sabbadius 80 Overdrive ToneSabbadius Mr. White Special II and a Texas Square Face Fuzz type pedal by Cesar Diaz, a great sounding 60s and 70s type fuzz pedal.

The fuzz pedal in Triple Trouble is made of silicon transistors, modified and inspired in the Cesar Diaz Square Face Fuzz. It cleans-up well when rolling back your guitar’s volume knob, and it has an extra knob called Wah Wah Trick, which allows you to use a wah pedal in front of the fuzz, like Jimi Hendrix did. If you are not using a wah, you can use this knob to attenuate the fuzz and convert it into a really nice, glassy tone overdrive. The fuzz potentiometer is a custom made pot for Sabbadius, to get all the fuzz stage parameters. The Volume pot makes your sound have more output, and increases the highs, so your fuzz will kick in with more volume, than common fuzz pedals.
