Another debutante at our upcoming Stompbox Exhibit will be Greer Amps, the  pedal and amp boutique manufacturer founded in 1998 in Athens, GA.

Greer will be showcasing – among others – their brand new Southland Harmonic Overdrive, which is built on the platform of its very successful older brother Lightspeed.

As it often happens with younger brothers, the Southland is a little more aggressive than its sibling, adding more gain (two stages of clipping), a focused midrange (not that annoying “hump”), and a bit of presence on top of the signal, to help cut through the mix. However, Greer guarantees that it does not throw temper tantrums…

Notwithstanding the differences, the two share many wonderful traits:  touch-sensitive (we are referring to guitar playing, you pervert), they both respond to pick attack, and have a great dynamic response.

Here’s a video demo of the Greer Amps Southland Overdrive.
