Modal Effects Disruption

Even though guitar pedals are, in their classic format, already a modular concept, more than one company has flirted with the idea of creating a modular pedal that can host several interchangeable effects.

Nashville-based Modal Effects is coming out with a new take on this idea. Their Disruption modular pedal concept is intriguing because it’s straightforward, flexible, clean looking, space-saving and also because allows guitarists to easily modify the chain of effects in between songs.

Disruption consists of a mother pedal (called “Disruption Base”) featuring just a footswitch and a Volume know, which can host up to three effect modules, whose order can be organized as you wish. The “Activate+” footswitch controls the module on the far right, which feeds the remaining two.

Currently, it looks like the modules are limited to EQ, gain and fuzz effects, but the format allows for all sorts of future effects.

A MODERN GUITAR PEDAL WITH ANALOG ROOTS

MODULAR
UNPARALLED CUSTOMIZATION
DISRUPTION uses modules, which we call Mods, to change out the physical circuitry in your pedal. This modularity is what makes DISRUPTION able to provide a level of customization not seen on traditional analog pedals. With gain Mods ranging from clean boost to dirty fuzz and three unique tone-shaping Mods, DISRUPTION is the ultimate platform in helping you curate your unique sound. Check out our Mod types.

MODERN
EASY & SATISFYING TO USE
Our goal when designing the enclosure for DISRUPTION was to make switching Mods not just easy and simple but to make it so fun and satisfying that you’ll never want to stop experimenting with new Mods and new ways to arrange them. We think our magnetic connectors give you that feeling while allowing you to swap out an entire set of Mods in a matter of seconds. All without having to even turn the pedal off. See how it works.

ANALOG
THAT SWEET, SWEET VINTAGE SOUND
Our favorite guitar pedals have always been the classics like the Big Muff Pi or Tube Screamer and something they all have in common is they are all analog. There is something so fascinating to us about interacting with the physical circuitry inside guitar pedals. Knowing the flip of a switch or twist of a knob is changing the electrical signal flowing from our guitar connects us that much closer with our sound. We designed DISRUPTION with this idea in mind, which is why DISRUPTION is 100% analog and sounds just as good as the classics. Give it a listen.

DISRUPTION BASE
HOW IT WORKS
The DISRUPTION Base has three slots for Mods. The signal runs through the three Mods in series from right to left, following the signal chain of the input and output jacks. Changing and reordering Mods changes the sound. It’s as simple as that.
