Keeley Eccos

We first saw a prototype of the Keeley Eccos Delay-Looper at Winter NAMM 2019. The pedal took a while to be finalized for shipping, probably because of the complex digital algorythms that comprise the core of the circuit. The company has finally unveiled the first two official videos of it, you can see them under this blurb.

The circuit is a stereo, digital throwback to one of the oldest effects – analog tape delay. It’s based around the company’s proprietary Dream technology featuring 24-bit digital signal processing for the most authentic echo sounds available. It goes a step further by adding modulation to the delay trails, adding a unique modulation vibe to the sound that is easy to dial in to taste, and two steps fuirther by adding a Loop Mode.

As common with this type of effect, there are controls over Time (up to 1.5 seconds), Rate, Blend, Depth, and Feedback as well as a Mode switch that selects between a vibe and 2 different flange sounds.

The Feedback knob is also a push switch that gives you access to alternate controls for the other knobs:

Press and hold FDBK to access secondary controls like TONE or REGEN. Press and hold FDBK while using the MODE Toggle Switch to select new tempo subdivisions. Quickly double tap the FDBK knob to switch between Looper and Delay modes. You can even use your foot while playing live!

Looper mode offers loop times of up to 120 seconds in mono, and up to 60 seconds in stereo, and all the main looping functions can be navigated through the two footswitches, including Reverse and Half Speed.

The Eccos is a hybrid design, meaning that when the pedal is disengaged the signal path remains 100% analog and doesn’t go through any digital conversion. There is a Tap Tempo switch as well as an expression pedal output. The Eccos can also store 3 presets for instant recall.

The ECCOS Delay Looper is based on a new stereo, flanged delay tone.  Create beautiful sounding tape style delay lines and then spin them endless with the Looper!  Designed to be at home in live pro rigs or bedroom studios while experimenting.  The Keeley ECCOS is a delay-looper workstation with superb sound quality and abundant features.

The new true-stereo Keeley ECCOS artfully combines a delay pedal and a looper.  At the heart of the ECCOS is a neo-vintage delay with unprecedented control over tape-style echoes.  Create long and majestic sounding tape flanged delay lines and then switch to the feature-packed Looper to record endless layers of sound!  Dual stomp switches in delay mode are for true-bypass, tap-tempo and even endless feedback – but in looper mode they allow you to record, play, reverse, half-speed and even trigger a “play-once”.  Live or as a studio workstation the delay and looper work together giving you endless room for creating and experimenting in a small footprint.  With over three years of development on the Quad 24/56-bit Dream DSP, Keeley has reached the pinnacle of guitar effects sound quality with the amazing new sounds in the ECCOS.
